Tommy Henley
bETA DC ‘25, Acquired Adventure Zone Daycare in 2025 and more recently, Kumon of Harlem East

Tommy Henley had a unique journey to ETA. With a decade-plus career in education, and a focus on underserved students, Tommy knew mission-alignment was critical to his acquisition journey. He closed on the Kumon of Harlem East in March 2026 – a math and reading education franchise with a focus on K-12 students.
Why ETA?
“Owning a business is the most liberating feeling.” – Tommy Henley
Ownership In Action
With his recent acquisition, Tommy is now the owner of two tutoring centers, with a plan to close on his second preschool in the coming months, bringing his total holdings to four education-focused companies serving marginalized communities.
One of Tommy’s first lessons of ownership: managing cashflow. He had to gain an understanding of his businesses’ needs to ensure they could fund expansion. His expansion goals include adding 4 tutoring centers and 5 more preschools – all positioned to support underserved communities.
“Driving impact has been the most valuable element of owning a business.”
“Just DO IT! Often folks spend time sourcing, and looking for the ‘right’ deal, but you have to just execute! SEND THAT LOI!”
